Mission Statement

As a 501(c)(3) charitable farmed animal sanctuary, we are bringing awareness to the sentience of farmed animals through education and interaction. We hope that developing a connection with these creatures will enable us to make decisions that lessen the suffering of farm animals.

Slogan

Just for lookin’, not for cookin’!

Goal

We provide a lifelong home and care to animals - like cows, sheep, chickens, pigs, turkeys, goats - who would have otherwise been slaughtered.

Through public awareness days, private tours, social media videos and photos, we hope to share the personalities and uniqueness of farmed animals with others. We want people from our community, and beyond, to see firsthand how sweet, gentle, silly, and complex these beings are.

Our hope is that the bonds that develop will help us recognize that chicken nuggets are chickens, pork is pigs, hamburgers are cows, and so forth; and that the way these animals are treated matters.

Farmed Animals

We refer to our residents as farmed animals, in the past tense, for a simple reason! They were farm animals; but here, they’re not! At the sanctuary, their only expectation is to live happily and peacefully. We do not intend to exploit them for food or entertainment. This is their home - a place where they can just “be”.

Bonus Barn Cats

When we moved to our sanctuary property, we were surprised to find an adult cat (who we now call “Lotus”) hanging out in our barn. We were even more surprised when we found her three newborn kittens in a barn stall. As time has gone on, we have met more adult cats who also call our property “home” and we found one more litter of kittens in our pole barn. We have had a total of six adult cats and six kittens; tragically, two of our adult cats (Morticia and Thomas) have disappeared.

“Sanctuary” means a safe haven or refuge. While our mission was intended for farmed animals, we welcome our bonus barn cats as sanctuary residents. We will provide the lifelong care and love that they also deserve.
